What are fisherman saying?

"My first pin, all my buddies were shocked when they saw me just pitching my float setup as if I was using a bait-caster for bass. These breaks are an absolute game changer in Michigan"

Grant Fry (Michigan), Redband Reels customer

"I have used centerpins in Ontario since 1980 and never have I been able to cast them like I wish I could. The way they eliminate line twist is what did it for me."

- David F (Ontario), Redband Reels customer

"I can literally skip cast with this thing, and

The AirBrake sounds absolutely sick"

Jacob L (Washington), Redband Reels customer

Frequently asked Questions & Reviews

The spool is very thin, will this hurt when stopping a fish?

Not at all! We make our spool thinner to easily place your hand on the side to apply pressure against our Brake Pad™. Even if you used the rim, it is smooth enough to avoid discomfort.

Does the Redband 45 Cast just like a baitcaster?

Yes, and no. With the spool tension on as well as the AirBrake™, you can cast this reel like a baitcaster!

The only difference, is the spool needs to start spinning before the end of the cast.

It is similar to a B.C Swing Cast.

Will the casting brakes slow down my float??

The AirBrake™ works like a wind turbine. The blades only catch air at high RPM's. When at low RPM's (such as drifting a float), the AirBrake™ does not slow your spool at all!

What type of rod do I pair with this Reel?

The Redband 45 is built to pair perfectly with traditional spinning / baitcaster reel seets, or sliding rings. The rod should be technique specific. This reel DOES NOT fit metal fly reel seets.

Will this reel hold up against large fish?

Short answer; Yes. Our team has caught 20lbs steelhead and 55 lbs catfish with the reel.

Is the clicker switch a drag?

The clicker is built for storage purposes, when relocating spots.

However, when a fish is tired near the bank it is useful to switch it on to make landing it easier.

What kind of line should I use?

We always recommend using monofiliment as your mainline. The reel casts thicker lines best, and the stretch helps make your hand-applied drag smoother.

Anywhere from 6 to 30lbs mainline will work great.

What weights can you cast with the reel?

Thanks to the light startup and casting brakes, you can cast anywhere from 1-3 grams, to over an ounce. The lighter the weight, the more skill it will take to achieve farther distances!

Can you use it in the Salt?

Yes, you can. However it is very important to rinse it off with freshwater when

Is it only for float fishing?

You can use this reel for almost any technique, spinners, drift fishing, float, spoons, jigs, and anything else you can come up with. You are only limited by your own skill and creativity.

Thank you!
